A woman was raped by several men outside a church in Epsom after leaving a local nightclub.
The woman,in her 20s,reported she was attacked outside Epsom Methodist Church after leaving Labyrinth Epsom nightclub in the early hours of Saturday morning,Surrey Police said.
The rape is believed to have taken place between 2am and 4am and left the victim ‘very shaken’,the force added.
The police said they are investigating and working to identify the suspects.
Detective Inspector Aine Matthews said: ‘We understand this is an extremely distressing incident and the victim is being supported by specialist officers.

Breaking News alerts the moment it happens.‘Our investigation is in its early stages and a team of officers have been conducting extensive enquiries today to identify and locate the suspects.‘We are working at pace to develop our picture of the suspects and we will share details as soon we are able to.‘Officers remain in the area and I encourage you to speak with them if you have any concerns.‘As part of our investigation,we would like to speak to anyone who was in the area between 2am and 4am and may have been seen or spoken to a woman in her 20s in distress.’Labryrinth Epsom is just a minutes walk away from Epsom Methodist Church on Ashley Road,which is around the corner from the high street.A Surrey Police spokesman said: ‘At this early stage,we do not have full descriptions of the suspects,which is something we are working hard to develop.‘The victim is understandably very shaken and our specialist Sexual Offences Liaison Officer is helping her through the process,at her own pace.‘We are sharing this appeal now to get information from anyone who may have seen the victim in distress,have dashcam footage from the area at the time or noticed anything at all concerning.’Helen Maguire MP,for Epsom & Ewell,her office was reaching out with support.She said: ‘I am appalled to hear about the serious assault in Epsom,and my thoughts are with the individual affected at this distressing time.‘It is important that the police are able to carry out their investigation without interference. I urge people to refrain from speculation,particularly online.‘As part of their investigation,Surrey Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area between 2am and 4am and may have been seen or spoken to a woman in her 20s in distress.’
