President of the Confederation of African of Football (CAF),Patrice Motsepe, will visit Senegal on Wednesday and meet President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Head of Senegalese Federation of Football Abdoulaye Fall.

The announcement was made by the African football governing body in a press release issued Tuesday. This visit comes after CAF Appeal Board ruled that Senegal forfeited the final match of AFCON 2025 by walking off the pitch, with the result being recorded as a 3-0 victory for the Atlas Lions.

CAF says Senegal infringed on article 82 of AFCON’s regulations, which states if a team refuses to play or leaves the ground before the end of regulation time without the refereee’s authorization,it will be considered the loser and eliminated from the competition.

Article 84 states any team that violates article 82 will be permanently eliminated and lose the match 3-0. But Senegal challenged the ruling at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and filed an appeal against CAF and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.

Morocco has won the first round of the legal battle against Senegal as CAS has rejected the urgent procedure requested by Senegal which is seeking a swift decision. Morocco says it has extensive reports and compelling legal and material evidences of Senegalese players leaving the pitch in violation of CAF regulations.

A case before the CAS usually takes between 9 and 12 months. Motsepe had announced his visit to Senegal during CAF Executive Committee meeting convened 29 March in Cairo to engage with government and sporting authorities to strengthen cooperation and develop football at both national and continental levels.

CAF Chief also announced that he would visit Morocco after Senegal, carrying a similar message of support for cooperation and unity among African nations, emphasising the importance of preserving the historic ties between Morocco and Senegal.
