Tom Cruise has quietly stepped back from one of London’s most exclusive postcodes, with sources claiming the Hollywood star no longer felt safe living in the heart of Knightsbridge.

The 63-year-old actor is understood to have left his £35million luxury apartment overlooking Hyde Park after a string of high-profile crimes in the area, culminating in a daylight robbery at a nearby luxury watch store.

A source close to the Mission: Impossible star told The Daily Mail that the turning point came after a brazen raid on the Bucherer boutique near his home.

Masked thieves reportedly arrived on motorbikes in what witnesses described as a coordinated attack, smashing their way into the shop with sledgehammers and ‘swinging machetes’ at security guards who tried to intervene, the publication has claimed.

The robbery lasted just minutes, but around 20 high-value watches were taken.

The source said: ‘The over aggressive attack on the store below cemented the lack of security surrounding the multi-million pound flats where Cruise lives.’

‘He often loved to take a walk around the area but it seems like Knightsbridge is becoming less safe by the week. He just felt the area has declined in the past year or two.’

The BBC reported: ‘The group left the stolen motorcycle they used to ram into the building inside the shop before riding off on four mopeds parked outside. No one was injured, the Metropolitan Police said.’

Cruise,a familiar but discreet presence in the neighbourhood, was often spotted heading out for early-morning runs along South Carriage Drive, directly opposite his building.

Locals say his movements were low-key,but well-known among staff in nearby hotels and shops.

The store has remained shut since the incident, officially for refurbishment.

Empty display cases still showed price tags of nearly £30,000.

Concierge staff at Cruise’s former apartment block were reportedly stunned by how quickly he left. Removal boxes were seen being taken from the penthouse, which boasts panoramic views across the park.

‘He loved London,’ a source familiar with his departure told The Daily Mail. ‘It had become both his professional headquarters and a private playground. The decision to go happened fast.’
