Three boys are in hospital after falling from the top deck of a bus.
The teenagers suffered ‘potentially serious’ injuries when they fell through a window of the double decker on Bolton Road,Manchester,on Wednesday.
An air ambulance landed at the scene before the boys were taken for treatment.
The accident happened when they were on their way home from St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic High School.
Head teacher Mark Dumican wrote to parents saying there were ‘no life-threatening injuries’ and that the boys were being ‘assessed in hospital’.
The children are being monitored in hospital currently (Picture: MEN Media)‘We are also offering support to those pupils in school today who witnessed the incident and would like the opportunity to speak about it.‘Contrary to some reports,there are no life-threatening injuries,and all three boys have been assessed in hospital.’An inquiry is now underway,but a senior officer said it appeared at this stage to be ‘an unfortunate accident.’Inspector Simon Barrie said: ‘This is a serious incident that will cause disruption. Our priority is to make sure the children get the treatment they need in the hospital.‘Thankfully,we don’t believe their injuries are life-threatening. This does appear to be an unfortunate accident at this time,but we will be making enquiries as to the circumstances and liaising with partners.A Transport for Greater Manchester spokesperson said: ‘We understand that three children onboard have since been taken to the hospital.‘Our thoughts are with those injured,and we want to wish them a speedy recovery.‘Emergency services remain at the scene,and we are working closely with the bus operator in supporting police with their enquiries into the incident.’United News - unews.co.za
