The fire that broke out above Boyes Drive in Muizenberg has been largely contained.The fire had been burning in the direction of Kalk Bay and St James.Boyes Drive is closed to the public until further notice.The City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Services confirmed that the fire above Boyes Drive in Muizenberg has been brought under control.
“The fire above Boyes Drive has been largely contained,and we are standing down the majority of the resources,” said Jermaine Carelse,the City’s fire services spokesperson.
Carelse said they are now turning their attention to a fire raging near Kalk Bay.
“Our efforts are now focused on extinguishing the fire near Kalk Bay.

“Once again,the collaboration with the various agencies - Table Mountain National Park,Volunteer Wildfire Services and NCC [Environmental Services] - yielded positive results,” he said.
Crews will remain on scene until the last ember has been extinguished,said Carelse.

SANParks said Boyes Drive in Muizenberg,however,remains closed to the public after the fire broke out on the mountain slopes at about 08:30.

Several resources were dispatched to the scene.
“The right flank was quickly secured. However,the concern is the left flank that is slowly spreading towards Kalk Bay,” Carelse said.

Volunteer Wildfire Services said that authorities cautioned residents and visitors to steer clear of the area as containment efforts intensify.
The Table Mountain National Park head of communications JP Louw said all available resources were deployed in active suppression efforts on Sunday.
