Israel-Iran unprecedented escalation: Where does Algeria stand?

The attack launched by the Israeli army during the night from Thursday to Friday took the Iranian mullahs by surprise. In a message broadcast online shortly after the beginning of the offensive,Benjamin Netanyahu explained his double-aim decision: reassure Israelis and try to rally as many leaders as possible to his cause,reported the news outlet Sahel intelligence. In this address,the Prime Minister stated that “we had no choice but to act quickly,” referring to “an existential threat.” “We could not leave this threat to the next generation,” he declared,acknowledging “difficult times ahead” as the operation,dubbed “Rising Lion,” is expected to continue “for days,” the outlet added.

According to Western sources,in this explosive international context,the Algerian military regime sent a confidential message to the Iranian military authorities assuring them of its support against the Jewish state at the UN,and of its intention to conduct actions in Europe and Africa. Although the Algerian regime did not specify the nature of these actions,analysts believe they would target countries that support Israel or that have initiated relations with Israel within a broader geopolitical strategy.

Algeria had signed agreements with Iran in several economic,strategic,and military fields,at a time both military regimes share the same ideology: destroy the Jewish state in the Middle East. And,as Iran is known for its destabilizing moves in the Middle East,Algeria is clearly emerging as a serious threat,endangering North Africa and the Sahel region.
