The International Atomic Energy Agency has awarded Morocco top-notch safety rating, confirming that all nuclear substances on its soil are used solely for peaceful purposes.

The announcement was made Tuesday by Moroccan Agency for Nuclear,Radiological Safety & Security (AMSSNuR) in a press release.

The acknowledgement by UN nuclear watchdog of Morocco’s compliance with global nuclear non-proliferation agreements is an international recognition of the country’s adherence to highest safety standards.

Morocco, which is committed to international nuclear transparency, ratified the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement in 1975 and the Additional Protocol in 2011.

Before giving the Kingdom highest nuclear safety rating,IAEA inspectors conducted a meticulous review of the country’s nuclear activities, facilities and sites using nuclear materials and related technologies. The findings confirmed Morocco’s full compliance with its international obligations and regulations.

The IAEA’s confirmation is a culmination of Morocco’s cooperation with the UN agency and evidence of its transparency & commitment to global nuclear non-proliferation.
