A high-level delegation from Morocco’s General Confederation of Enterprises (CGEM) is currently undertaking a strategic mission to Seoul, aiming to strengthen bilateral economic relations and identify new cooperation opportunities with South Korean businesses across multiple industrial sectors.

Led by CGEM President Chakib Alj,the delegation comprises companies operating in automotive, plastics, chemical and parachemical industries,agri-food,heavy industry, pharmaceuticals, mining, renewable energy, and new technologies. The mission, running through June 13,seeks to leverage South Korea’s technological expertise for Moroccan industrial development.

The delegation’s first stop at Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) showcased an ecosystem hosting over 300 foreign companies in manufacturing and R&D sectors. IFEZ Commissioner Wonsok Yun presented the zone’s dynamic environment to Moroccan business leaders.

A highlight included touring the Smart City Integrated Operation Center (SCIOC),operational since 2012,which coordinates real-time urban services including traffic management, emergency response, environmental monitoring, and infrastructure maintenance. This platform demonstrates South Korea’s advanced urban management capabilities that could inform Morocco’s smart city initiatives.

A visit to Samsung Innovation Museum in Suwon provided immersive exposure to the Korean giant’s technological evolution from early electrical appliances to cutting-edge solutions. The mission continues with meetings scheduled with leading Korean enterprises and professional organizations including the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) and Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).

B2B sessions and sectoral meetings will facilitate direct business connections, potentially catalyzing technology transfer, joint ventures, and investment flows that could accelerate Morocco’s industrial modernization while strengthening economic ties between the two nations.
