Defense Industry: Morocco & Pakistan to deepen & expand cooperation

Morocco and Pakistan are looking forward to strengthening further cooperation ties in defense industry,technology,and military training as the North African Kingdom is developing its military industry clusters building on its success in the automotive and aeronautics sectors.

According to press reports,Rabat and Islamabad are working on a cooperation agreement in military manufacturing,exchange of expertise and training between the armed forces of the two countries.

To reduce its dependence on foreign weapons purchases and strengthen its military capabilities,Morocco has set a strategy based on “win-win” partnerships aimed at attracting leading international military manufacturers.

Several defense companies from the U.S. Europe,Latin America and Asia have shown interests in the huge investment opportunities offered by the Kingdom,which is determined to become a weapons’ producing country.

In January 2025,Turkish Baykar Company strategic announced its decision to set up a manufacturing site of military drones in the North African Kingdom.

In September 2024,India’s “TATA Advanced Systems” signed a strategic partnership agreement for the establishment of a plant in Morocco to produce armored combat vehicle WhAP 8×8 for the Royal Armed forces.

Israeli company Bluebird had also announced plans to open a production site of its unmanned aerial systems in the country,while Brazilian aerospace giant Embraer is busy working on projects in Morocco in military and civil aircraft manufacturing.
