The UK looks to benefit from £33bn in public procurements planned in Morocco for the next three years,as the two countries foster their ties following London’s endorsement of the North African Kingdom’s autonomy plan as the “most credible” solution to the Sahara issue.

During a high-level visit to Rabat,UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy signed a series of agreements with Moroccan officials, positioning British firms at the forefront of infrastructure projects tied to the 2030 FIFA World Cup,which Morocco will co-host,the UK government said on its official website.

These include a £1.2 billion expansion of Casablanca Airport and a £150 million hospital project in the same city,to be delivered with UK financing and NHS clinical expertise,it said.

The deals span sectors from healthcare and water management to green port infrastructure and smart logistics. A £200 million cooperation agreement on water and ports will promote UK expertise in sustainable development, while a new procurement framework will give UK firms preferential access to Moroccan public tenders.
