Morocco’s ONEE,Germany’s KfW seal €50 Mln loan deal to finance drinking water supply program

The German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ),through KfW,will grant Morocco’s National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) a €50 million loan destined to finance a climate-resilient drinking water supply program.

The program is aimed at securing and reinforcing drinking water supply in several towns,including Ghafsai,El Hajeb,Ain Legdah,Bouderbala,Souk Lgour and M’Haya,as well as improving the performance of drinking water supply systems in several regions of the Kingdom,ONEE said in a press release.

This financial assistance is part of a fruitful and diversified cooperation between ONEE and GIZ in drinking water,which dates back to the early 80s,with the integration of the resilience component in drinking water production.

The loan agreement was initialled by Director of Germany’s KfW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau) in Morocco,Janne Rajpar,and ONEE Director-Genera,Tarik Hamane.
