A delegation of French senators, currently visiting Morocco, shared their admiration for the development process in the Southern Provinces and the scale of ongoing projects, especially in the city of Dakhla.

“We are impressed by the significance of the projects we have seen up close,as well as those presented to us in Dakhla,” said Senator Max Brisson (Republican Group,Pyrénées Atlantiques) during a press briefing following a meeting in Rabat on Thursday with Minister of Foreign Affairs,African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita.

The French delegation toured Dakhla on Wednesday, where they met with local officials and elected representatives and visited several large-scale projects, including the seawater desalination plant and the construction site for the new Dakhla Atlantique port.

Describing the exchanges with Bourita as “fruitful” Brisson highlighted the “brotherly and warm” relationships between the two countries, particularly energized by the recent state visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Morocco.

In addition,Brisson announced that Morocco would be the guest of honor at the upcoming Paris Book Fair.

France and Morocco opened a new chapter of bilateral ties following Paris’ decision to recognize Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern Sahara provinces.
