The European Union’s Ambassador to Libya,Nicola Orlando,reiterated the EU’s commitment to improving primary healthcare services across Libya. His comments followed a meeting with Ramadan Abu Janah,the Minister of Health in the Government of National Unity,in Tripoli,held on Sunday February 23.
Orlando took to social media to share his optimism regarding the collaboration,highlighting the EU’s continued support in strengthening health services for all Libyans.
During the meeting,Orlando emphasized the importance of expanding EU cooperation with Libya in key areas,particularly in the provision of local healthcare services. “We look forward to deepening our strategic and technical partnerships in the months ahead,” he remarked. Both sides discussed practical ways to improve the healthcare infrastructure in Libya,with a focus on migrant health,public health,and primary care.
Additionally,the discussion covered the development of mechanisms to improve communication and coordination between the EU mission and Libya’s health sector. One of the key areas of focus was enhancing cross-border disease surveillance systems to prevent and combat the spread of epidemics,and ensure more effective management of health crises across the region.
