The G20 summit wrapped up in Africa without a joint communiqué amid an absence of the US and major financial chiefs.
The United States boycotted the event citing South Africa’s “anti-Americanism”. The decision also came after fierce criticism by Trump, who accused the South African government of discrimination against its white minority.
The absence of high-profile figures, including U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and other finance ministers from major economies like China,Japan,India, and Canada, overshadowed the summit.
Ongoing disputes over trade, the Ukraine war,and climate change mitigation hindered the G20’s ability to make substantial progress on global issues.
The finance ministers’ meeting in Cape Town ended without a joint statement, primarily due to disagreements over trade policies, the Ukraine conflict, and climate change.
