Means to combat terrorism, and various forms of crime with cross-border dimensions, particularly human trafficking networks, smuggling of migrants, illegal immigration, and organized crime gangs were at the focus of a Moroccan-German-Spanish tripartite meeting held in Madrid.

The Tripartite Moroccan-Spanish-German Coalition that brought together Director General of National Security (DGSN) and Territorial Surveillance (DGST),Abdellatif Hammouchi, the Director General of the Spanish National Police, and the President of the German Federal Police discussed ways and means of bolstering security cooperation and examined mechanisms to expand the areas of collaboration between the security services of all three countries and ways to bolster trilateral coordination in the field of technical assistance and operational security cooperation, the DGSN-DGST hub said in a press release.

Besides counterterrorism and means to combat various forms of cross-border crime, the three sides also discussed struggle against crime gangs active in the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, money laundering,as well as emerging crimes related to cyber threats and cyber extortion.

The tripartite talks also covered the exchange of expertise, experiences and best practices to secure major sporting events and provide a safe environment to ensure success of international football events, particularly in light of preparations by Morocco and Spain to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Portugal.

The three security delegations expressed common views and stressed the importance and necessity of bolstering joint cooperation in various security fields, with a view to neutralizing and preventing all the growing risks and threats at regional and international levels.

The tripartite meeting was held during a working visit Abdellatif Hammouchi paid to Spain on January 28-29,at the head of a large security delegation.
