Airbus finalizes acquisition of Spirit AeroSystems’ assets,including Casablanca facility

Airbus,the world’s biggest plane-maker,confirmed this Monday the acquisition of Spirit AeroSystems industrial assets dedicated to its commercial aircraft programs including the Casablanca production site.

Under terms of the agreement signed between the two parties,Airbus will take ownership of the facilities that produce fuselage sections,wings,and other components.

The deal includes the acquisition of the plants of Spirit AeroSystems in North Carolina (A350 fuselage sections); France (A350 fuselage sections); Casablanca (A321 & A220 components); Wichita,Kansas,U.S. (production of A220 pylons),Belfast (production of A220 wings & mid-fuselage) and Prestwick,Scotland (the production of wing components for A320 for A350 planes)

With this operation,Airbus said it aims to ensure stability of supply for its commercial aircraft programs through a more sustainable way forward,both operationally and financially,for key Airbus work packages.

Closing of the transaction and the official transfer of operations is planned in the third quarter of 2025,subject to regulatory and other customary approvals.
