Morocco’s Minister of Economy and Finance,Nadia Fettah Alaoui, outlined significant progress in legal dispute resolution, public sector reform, and inflation management during a recent parliamentary question time.

Highlighting efforts to strengthen state dispute management,Fettah Alaoui said that reforms have led to cumulative savings of 25.4 billion dirhams over five years by reducing financial exposure in litigation. In 2024 alone, improved case analysis resulted in savings of 16.2 billion dirhams. The government has also successfully defended key interests in international arbitration cases, including before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID).

The minister emphasized ongoing implementation of Framework Law 50.21,aimed at restructuring public enterprises. A new institutional framework is being established, including the creation of the National Agency for Strategic Management of Public Enterprises and the formulation of the first-ever State Investment Strategy.

On inflation, she noted a decline from 13% in early 2023,thanks to targeted subsidies and price controls on essential goods. Authorities have monitored over 350,000 retail points, issuing more than 15,000 violations to curb unfair pricing.

Fettah Alaoui also addressed informal sector integration, calling for inclusive dialogue and policy measures across agriculture, tourism, and commerce to support formalization. Tax reforms and updates to social security systems aim to improve labor inclusion and access to benefits.

These coordinated efforts reflect Morocco’s commitment to strengthening economic governance, enhancing transparency, and protecting citizens from global economic volatility.
