British Chariot Energy Company announced Wednesday that it has regained operatorship of its Moroccan Lixus and Rissana Offshore licenses from Energean firm.

Chariot is now operator of the Anchois gas field and has a 75% working interest in each license, with Moroccan National Office of Hydrocarbons & Mines (ONHYM) retaining its 25% stake.

With operatorship restored,Chariot says it remains committed to progressing the license work programs and will collaborate with ONHYM to assess and adapt the exploration plan of the Anchois gas field based on discovered resources.

Adonis Pouroulis,CEO of Chariot, said “We are pleased to have completed the transfer of these licenses and regained operatorship as we see material value within our diversified Moroccan position, both offshore and onshore”.

He also said that the Anchois offshore gas discovery still offers the potential for a rescaled development, affirming that gas market fundamentals in Morocco are robust with strong gas demand and excellent fiscal terms.
