Some 120 African election observers from 52 countries of the continent started Monday in Rabat a training session focusing on electoral process in Africa,political dialogue,governance,inclusive democracy,observers code of conduct,duties,methodology and activities.
The opening ceremony was co-chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita,and the African Union Commissioner for Political Affairs,Peace,and Security,Bankole Adeoye.
The event is part of Morocco’s commitment to improve the election observation missions for a stable,peaceful,and prosperous Africa. Young civil society actors,experts,and high-ranking officials from all five regions of the continent are taking part in the Rabat training marked by important female participation,accounting for 68% of all attendees.
In his opening address,Bourita said the training session is part of Morocco’s strong commitment to enable Africans with necessary skills,capable of accompanying electoral processes and democratic transitions in Africa with diligence and professionalism” through qualified observers who will contribute to building a model and inclusive governance designed for Africa by Africans.
