A power outage has hit the Canary Islands only a week after Spain’s nationwide blackout.
The lights went off across a third of the island of La Palma at 9.57am.
At least 30,000 people across 20 towns were left without power for nearly two hours.
Affected areas include Santa Cruz de La Palma,Los Llanos de Aridane,El Paso,Tazacorte,Breña Alta, and Puntallana.
Hospitals and airports have not been impacted by the blackout.

The cause of the blackout is unclear, but the electrical company e-distribución said it was caused by a ‘fault’ at the Los Guinchos power plant.
La Palma Energy Minister,Fernando González, said blackouts can cause ‘serious harm, especially to the most vulnerable sectors and to companies whose production is disrupted’.
Officials are ‘rigorously monitoring’ and inspecting the electrical infrastructure.
Power companies Endesa and Red Eléctrica are working to restore power.

Once electricity is restored,La Palma officials have urged people to ‘avoid turning on electronic devices at the same time to avoid saturating the electrical network’.
‘Always consult official sources to corroborate information,’ the council added in a post on X.
Spain and Portugal faced extensive blackouts in April, impacting tens of millions on the Iberian Peninsula. The cause remains unknown.
Businesses, schools and trains shut down. While airports delayed and cancelled flights and people struggled to get a signal on their phones or access the internet.
